Perfume concentration

EDP • EDT • EDC – all these are scents with different content of
aromatic oils, which speak about the persistence and saturation of the smell.
The persistence of perfume on the body depends on the concentration of
aromatic oils in the composition and on which components are used in the
composition. Persistence of the aroma, its perceptibility and cost depend on
the concentration.
- Pure perfume / Extract (in French Parfum, Extrait de Parfum). The richest concentration, 20-30% aromatic oils. A rather rare type of perfume that is not produced by all fragrance manufacturers. The aroma is saturated, the tone is bright and long. Lasts for 6-8 hours on the skin, even longer on clothes and hair.
- Perfume ( EDP, in French Eau de Parfum )– usually contains 15-20% aromatics. The average persistence is 4-5 hours. Almost all the products of Montale, Creed, Amouage have this concentration.
- Toilet water ( EDT, in French Eau de Toilette) – has 5-15% concentration, stays on the skin for 2-3 hours, requires constant renewal throughout the day, it allows you to use several perfumes in one day. For example, fresh or floral scents in the morning, woody or oriental in the late afternoon. L’Artisan and Tom Ford offer fragrances with EDT concentrations.
- EDC or Eau de Cologne – a rather weak and light type of scent, made with 70% alcohol solution, the concentration is 2-4%. It stays on the skin for 2-3 hours. In this concentration, the best fragrances are produced by Jo Malone.
- Fresh water ( in French Eau fraîche )
A rather rare type of scent with a concentration of 1-3%. In this
concentration, perfume oil is used in all kinds of cosmetic products: shampoos,
shower gels, deodorants, air fresheners. It lasts quite a while (~2 hours), but
that’s not the main feature for this type of scent. Such compositions are
suitable for those who don’t like strong suffocating concentrations, have
allergies to perfume components, etc. Another advantage of eau fraîche
